Russian President Putin dives in a U-Boat Worx C-Explorer 5 luxury submersible

Russian President Vladimir Putin dived 60 metres in a red C-Explorer 5 submersible on Monday to examine a 19th Century shipwreck “The Oleg” in the Gulf of Finland.

The naval frigate was wrecked in 1869 when it collided with another vessel, and was discovered by Russian divers in 2003 and is now being studied by scientists.

The President emerged from the resurfaced clear paneled five-seat submarine after a twenty-minute dive to the sunken ship.

“It is lying on its right side,” President Putin said, adding that the vessel was well preserved. “Indeed, it’s in a perfect state - the name of the ship can be clearly read.”

The C-Explorer submersible used for the President’s dive was proudly made by Dutch company U-Boat Worx.
