U-Boat Worx has completed sea trials of the Super Sub, the fastest private submersible ever built, confirming delivery to its first client within the coming weeks.
The intensive testing programme took place in the waters off Curaçao, where the company also captured full photography and cinematic video of the submersible in action.
With 100kW of horizontal thrust and a top speed of nine knots, the Super Sub is capable of dynamic inclines and descents of up to 45 degrees, allowing pilots to navigate underwater topography with confidence and fluidity.
At an operational depth of 300 metres and with a range of up to ten nautical miles, it combines high-speed capability with serious exploratory reach. What distinguishes the Super Sub is the sensation of controlled acceleration beneath the surface — a smooth surge forward as hydrodynamic lift engages, transforming descent into something closer to underwater flight.
The Super Sub revealed precisely what its engineers intended: a private submersible that behaves less like a traditional underwater craft and more like a performance vehicle designed for three-dimensional freedom.
During the trials, engineers pushed the vessel through a demanding series of manoeuvres to validate propulsion, handling, avionics-style controls and onboard safety systems. This is the fastest and most advanced private submersible ever brought to market.
The Curaçao programme focused not only on performance validation but also on fine-tuning the sophisticated safety architecture that underpins the vessel. A hyper-precise sonar system continuously scans the seabed, autonomously adjusting trajectory and easing the craft into a parabolic path as it approaches its depth envelope. Redundant life-support and control systems were rigorously exercised throughout the trials, ensuring that the Super Sub meets the uncompromising standards that have defined U-Boat Worx since 2005.
Equally significant was the opportunity to document the Super Sub in its natural element. The resulting photography and video capture a machine that appears almost airborne as it slices through cobalt water, its winged profile generating lift while maintaining remarkable stability.
Inside the acrylic pressure hull, panoramic visibility and an ergonomic cockpit layout place pilot and passengers at the centre of an immersive, uninterrupted ocean panorama. It is a design that feels considered, performance-led, and undeniably elegant.
For the owner awaiting delivery, the coming weeks mark the next chapter in private exploration. Conceived for integration into forward-thinking yacht programmes or as a standalone exploration platform, the Super Sub’s speed makes large-area reconnaissance feasible within a single dive window, while its agility allows close inspection of reefs, walls and wreck sites with unprecedented control.
As the final preparations for handover are completed, the Super Sub stands not simply as a new model in a product portfolio, but as a redefinition of underwater mobility. Where previous generations prioritised endurance and access, this craft introduces exhilaration as an essential ingredient of the deep-sea experience.
