After the first success stories of our submersibles operated from luxury Cruise Ships – such as The Taipan from Star Cruises and the Crystal Esprit – U-Boat Worx is experiencing increased demand from the industry, and has developed and build the Cruise Sub Series to fulfill this demand. U-Boat Worx is the first company to successfully launch over a 1000 operations for Cruise Ships, a proven trackrecord for the cruise industry.
Traditional tourist submersibles have small porthole windows, with passenger seating arranged much like a tour bus. All our Cruise Ship submersibles are based on the same U-Boat Worx submersible designs that are used on exclusive private superyachts and by oceanographic research institutes, enabling all guests to have “front row seats” in order to enjoy the same panoramic dive experience.
U-Boat Worx submersibles provide unique access to the underwater world. Passengers do not require special training or SCUBA certification, and as such the subs can easily be used for dive-tourism purposes. The large number of passengers that can be carried (up to 10) presents a rewarding business case to cruise lines.
The safety and peace of mind is absolutely paramount. Each submersible is equipped with a multitude of safety systems and features. In addition to the above, all U-Boat Worx submersibles are certified by world-leading classification society DNV after each individual model has successfully completed a rigorous compliance program and robust safety test trajectory.
Diving with a U-Boat Worx submarine is an ‘out of this world’ experience. We share the passion to open this unexplored world to the greater public so we may all have the opportunity to explore, better understand and cherish our oceans.
These magnificent cruise ships offer exclusive dive experiences to their distinguished guests. The C-Explorer 5 submersibles installed on these vessels are the only submersibles installed on such large capacity cruise ships at the moment.
M/V Crystal Esprit is one of Crystal Cruises’ flagships. This luxury liner has limited passenger numbers to provide a highly personal experience. The ship is like a floating boutique hotel and stops regularly en route to launch its submersible at special locations, giving the passengers a memorable holiday experience.
Designed to deliver the ultimate experience of a lifetime for only 228 guests (limited to 200 on Arctic and Antarctic cruises), the Scenic Eclipse takes ocean cruising to a whole new level. Merging safety and luxury with underwater discovery, guests have the opportunity to explore below the ocean’s surface thanks to her U-Boat Worx Cruise Sub 7, able to accommodate six passengers and one pilot to a maximum depth of 300 meters.
Both Seabourn Venture and Persuit will sail to the far corners of the earth carrying two U-Boat Worx Cruise Sub 7 – 300 submarines capable of diving up to 300 meters, with six passengers and a pilot.
Two newly built sister ships, Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris, will carry a maximum of 378 guests each. With a total of four Cruise Sub 7 – 300 submersibles added in the specially designed hangar garage, cruise guests will both get the experience of a lifetime as well as learn some interesting facts abaout the flora and fauna of the deep. Each vessel will have at least 25 scientists and experts in the field aboard each cruise.
