After having completed two fully booked open submarine pilot training courses we look back upon an exciting and busy summer. “I found the pilot training course challenging yet demanding. After being a diver for almost 21 years, academically trained as a marine zoologist and qualified as an ROV Pilot Technician – this seemed `just the right submersible to initially train` for my career progression towards Submersible Biologist.

Luckily, the practical side was both exciting and thrilling and was everything I ever imagined! Practical and methodology took time to assimilate. It’s not easy listening to information given from topside in one ear and training under instruction given in another ear. Juxtaposing between `learning and piloting` and assimilating the two whilst being quizzed was quite demanding at times… The best thing I found was `how incredibly calm and relaxed` the instructor was!
