New 3,500-passenger Cruise Ship to carry two C-Explorer 5 submersibles.
Leading Asian cruise line Star Cruises is building a state-of-the-art Cruise Ship that will carry two manned submersibles. Many innovations are to be incorporated in the design to give the guests a unique experience during their cruise, the pinnacle of which will be the integration of two C-Explorer 5 submersibles.
The C-Explorer 5 is proclaimed to be the one-and-only “subsea limousine”. This luxury submarine can carry 4 passengers under the command of a trained pilot to depths of 200 meters. Thanks to the powerful Lithium-Ion Battery System it can dive a full day without recharging.
Besides commercial applications, the C-Explorer 5 submersibles are also already being used from super yachts for leisure and by professional underwater cinematographers.
U-Boat Worx delivered the first submersible to be operated from a Cruise Ship earlier in 2015. This C-Explorer 3 submersible was delivered to The Taipan, also operated by Star Cruises.
